On Friday, April 16, 2010 the WIU Maurice G. Kellogg Science Education Center will be sponsoring the Annual PreK-8 Science Update Conference. I would like to invite you to participate in this year's conference. The theme this year is Science Across the Curriculum and will feature nearly 20 sessions during three different 50-minute morning sessions. Some of the sessions already scheduled include "Science and Language Arts, A Natural Fit"; "Easy to do Kites, Inquiry & Literature"; "Books, Blood, Brains & Writing in Middle School Science"; and "Keeping Students Interested even after the Cool Teacher Demonstration". At noon participants will have the opportunity to attend their choice of minisessions. The conference lunch will be at 1 pm followed by the drawing for numerous door prizes. The WIU's Children's Literature Examination Center (CLEC) will again be a part of this year's conference allowing participants the opportunity to examine the latest in children and young adult literature.
The cost of the entire conference is $30 including lunch. You may access registration forms and other information about the Science Conference at http://www.wiu.edu/users/sced/update.html. We hope to see you at the conference on April 16th.
Division B, state-bound or state-winning teams are eligible for quarterfinalist status in the Discovery Young Scientist Challenge (YSC)! In 2009, Science Olympiad sent four team members from OR, NM, DE and NY to the Top Ten Finals in New York City!
